I am a UKRCP registered independent counsellor and a senior accredited counsellor and supervisor with the BACP. I have a Master of Arts degree (passed with merit) in Counselling Practice and a Post Graduate Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural therapy CBT as well as being trained in EMDR, Compassionate Mind Therapy and counselling Supervision. EMDR training completed in 2009 approved by the EMDR international association. Accredited counselling supervisor with Ascentis awarding body.
CBT helps explore and change thinking patterns and behaviours which result in anxiety, depression as well as many other issues.I Currently work part time seeing NHS clients as a high intensity CBT therapist.
In the counselling sessions the client can explore various aspects of their life and feelings, talking about them freely and openly in a way that is rarely possible with friends or family. Bottled up feelings such as anger, anxiety, grief and embarrassment can become very intense and counselling offers an opportunity to explore them, with the possibility of making them easier to understand. The counsellor will encourage the expression of feelings and as a result of their training will be able to accept and reflect the client’s problems without becoming burdened by them.My work with EMDR Eye movement desensitisation and readjustment therapy is very effective with 'stuck' emotions and recovery from trauma..
